Basic Function: 

Keeps premises of office building, or other commercial or institutional building, in clean and orderly condition. 

Major Responsibilities: 

 

  1. Makes job assignments to other janitors after receiving instructions from Area Supervisor/Project manager. Inspects quality of job performed and reports to Area Supervisor/Project manager. Makes Area Supervisor/Project manager aware of problems on job or within work group.
  2. Cleans and polishes lighting fixtures, marble surfaces and trim.
  3. Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker
    rooms and other work areas.
  4. Sweeps, dust mops, damp mop floors.
  5. Vacuum rugs and carpet.
  6. Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture and draperies.
  7. Dusts furniture and equipment. Polishes metal work.
  8. Washes walls, ceiling and woodwork. Washes windows, door panels and sills.
  9. Empties wastebaskets and empties and cleans ashtrays.
  10. Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
  11. Replenishes bathroom supplies. Replaces light bulbs.
  12. Ensure adequate supplies and equipment are available to team members.
  13. Perform such other duties as assigned.

Educational/Experience: 

High school education or equivalent.  Must have a minimum of 2 yrs. janitorial and supervisory experience.

Language Skills: 

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization. 

Mathematical Skills: 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. 

Reasoning Ability: 

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: 

Must complete Company's basic training program within first 30 days of employment.
